Paramount Pictures Corporation being a subsidiary of the media conglomerate Viacom is an American film production and Distribution Company founded as famous players Film Company by Adolf Zukor in 1912. Paramount was acquired by Viacom in 1994. Paramount is America’s oldest existing film studio. This company produces and distributes films through Paramount Pictures; it maintains the Paramount Pictures library of 3,500 films, which include classic hits from Star trek, Godfather and the Indiana Jones series and annually releases about a dozen new titles. Paramount pictures distributes movies on video and DVD through Paramount home entertainment.

Adolf Zukor, the founder of Paramount pictures spent most of his life building up one of the largest and most successful motion pictures company in the history of the entire entertainment industry. Zukor was born in 1873 in Hungary, but immigrated to the United States in 1892, he arrived in New York with $40 hidden inside his waistcoat and got a job sweeping flours. However by the dawn of the 20th century, he was the owner of a prosperous fur business in Chicago. Eventually Adolf returned to New York in search of more investment opportunities, whilst he was there he met Mitchell Mark, he was the owner of penny arcades. Adolf and Mark soon formed the Automatic Vaudeville Arcades Company with Adolf’s friend Marcus Loew, but a short time later they were each operating their own separate companies as owners of nickelodeon.
